Neocities extension
Before I started this blog I was getting interested in simple static website hosting and what I would come to learn is what people call the small (smol) web. It’s an unpolished, artsy, creative space.
I found neocities which is in essence a static site host, but in spirit a community of creators living inside of this ephemeral world.
Falling in love with this community, and trying to contribute in the only way I know how, I built a VS Code extension to help people manage their sites. It is quite a simple sync service that I built quickly. I’ve sometimes needed to add a feature or fix a bug, but most often I forget it exists.
At the time of writing it has over 1,000 installs. It’s my most popular solo project by far, and maybe the only one that’s been used by anyone at all. It’s not a technical masterpiece and it took no time to make. It has had the honor of being installed on so many computers and made creating something personal just that much easier. It’s my favorite thing I’ve ever built and I’m quite proud of it.
